CT Scan

Computed Tomography

CT scans combine X-ray images taken from different angles to create a more detailed picture of bones, blood vessels, and soft tissues.

CT Scans are often utilized to detect:

  • Internal injuries and bleeding
  • Cancers (e.g., lung, liver, kidney)
  • Bone disorders
  • Blood clots
  • Heart disease

What to Expect During Your CT Scan

For a CT scan, you'll lie on a table that slides into a large, doughnut-shaped machine. Most CT scans can be done in less than 5 minutes. In some cases, you may be given contrast dye through an IV to help highlight certain areas. You'll need to lie still and may be asked to hold your breath briefly to avoid blurring the images.
